Seven Years Seven Pieces
Monday is the first of a set of seven creations of the project Seven Years Seven Pieces. The project is based on the idea of the meeting between two people – Cláudia Dias herself and a guest artist. In this first creation, the guest artist is Pablo Fidalgo Lareo, with whom Dias shares an historic and cultural background but not necessarily the same way of seeing the world. Thus, Monday is a meeting where conflict is not only present but also constitutes the generator of new ideas. The piece is structured in a boxing match – 12 rounds where words and bodies collide. The piece premieres in Münchner Kammerspiel spring 2016.
Cláudia Dias is a choreographer, performer, and teacher based in Lissbon. She often moves in landscapes of language of choreography and poetry and has this time around entered an interesting parcour with seven duet dialogues; seven dual meetings, which will span over seven years.
Gothenburg Dance & Theatre Festival has, together with the residency group KID Gothenburg, been able to invite Dias to create Monday in a residency in Gothenburg and in Vitlycke Centre for Performing Art in Tanum. Together with her team she will do research and create the piece in Sweden during five weeks in November/December.
During the residency there will be public showings of the work in Gothenburg and in Vitlycke.

Valentina Desideri (IT/NL) is an active producer of her conditions of living, knowing and making. She trained in contemporary dance at the Laban Centre in London (2003-2006) and later on did her MA in Fine Arts at the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam (2011-13). She does Fake Therapy and Political Therapy, she co-organises Performing Arts Forum in France, she speculates in writing with Prof. Stefano Harney, she writes biographies by reading people’s hands, she engages in Poehtical Readings with Prof. Denise Ferreira da Silva,  she stays involved in dance and she is often around.

Rodrigo Sobarzo de Larraechea (CL/NL) studied choreography at the SNDO in Amsterdam, and theatre at Universidad de Chile in Santiago. He was a recipient of the DanceWeb scholarship in Vienna in 2009, and in 2013/2014 he was a resident at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht where he developed /S ITE S\. His works: MINING (2010) UNITES STATES (2011) THE HARVEST (2012), A P N E A (2013) and /S ITE S\ (2014) produced by Het Veem Theater in Amsterdam alongside with the support of workspacebrussels in Belgium, have been presented at among others; ImPulsTanz Vienna, B.Motion festival Bassano, Working Title Platform Brussels, Something Raw Amsterdam, Choreographers
Association Tel Aviv, Theater aan Zee Oostende, Inkonst Malmö, Stamsund Festival and Biennial Dampfzentrale Bern. His performances fundamentally seek to envelope its audience into visual introspection. As a performer, he has participated in projects by Ivana Müller, Jefta van Dinther, Vincent Riebeek and An Kaler. For his new project 2015/2016 he will travel to Antarctica to work on a transmission named REMOTE RA\ /E. Diego Olea (1984/CL/DE)
Studied acting in ”Escuela de Teatro Imagen” in Santiago de Chile and has attended seminars in aesthetics and scenic composition among others with a vast emphasis in movement and physical research. All of the above combined with postgraduate seminars on dramaturgy and theater theory. Participating as an actor within different theater/performance productions in his home country.
In 2013 he moved to Berlin working in different film productions alongside to participating in a performance within TanzNacht Berlin and also during WorkingTitle Festival in Brussels, with  following performances in Leuven, Amsterdam an Antwerp.

The Seydou Boro Company

Dancer for Mathilde Monnier from 1993 to 2004 he created with Salia Sanou the company Salia ni Seydou in 1995. After 15 years of artistic adventures with Salia Sanou within the company Salia ni Seydou, Seydou Boro set up his own company in 2010. He wanted to use it to develop his choreographic research work while exploring in greater depth a more cross-disciplinary approach to cinematographic and musical creations. He created “Le tango du cheval” in 2010 and brought out his album “Kanou” in the same year, then adapted a traditional story for young audiences in 2013: “Why do hyenas have shorter back lacks than front legs and why do monkeys have bare bottoms?” and made a collective film, “Corpus” with Leslie Gremberg/Les Films Pénélope. He also continued to tour with the pieces “C’est-à-dire” (2004) and “Concert d’un homme décousu” (2009). He has regularly been invited to pass on his teachings and repertoire in workshops and masterclasses.
His artistic work is inspired by links that have been established over a number of years with the CDC la Termitière in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) of which he is co-director. He has also embarked on other collaborations in France and abroad which offer him space for research and experimentation. He has worked with the likes of Les récréatrales in Ouagadougou, Tof theatre (puppets, Brussels) and Mark Tompkins (I.D.A) and is planning to adapt a text he wrote in 2002, “L’exil dans l’asile”, with Bakary Sangaré from the Comédie Française.
In 2014 the Seydou Boro Company recreated the 2013 choreographic story “Why do hyenas have shorter back lacks than front legs and why do monkeys have bare bottoms?” on stage with “Surukou” and four musicians from Burkino Faso. In 2015 he will be creating “Le Cri de la Chair”, a piece for six dancers and five musicians

Robert Steijn works as a performer, director, writer and dancer, based in Vienna, but working internationally. He likes to see the make-belief of theatre as an alternative reality in dialogue with what people normally allow themselves to think, feel or decide. his work is influenced by the performance qualities of shamans and guru’s and by conceptual thinking in the arts. he makes performances in theaters and galleries, and big rituals for the public space. he likes to work in non hierarchal collaborations with other artists from different background, in a process, in which the different art-disciplines are not strictly divided anymore.

Maija Hirvanen (Finland) är koreograf, arbetar i huvudsak med performance och baserat i Helsingfors, Finland. Förutom hennes solo och gruppframträdanden har hon gjort samarbeten och projekt med andra konstnärer. Hennes verk har presenteras på scener, gallerier och museer och även gjort platsspecifika verk på ett gammalt slott, ishall och hotellrum. Hirvanen konstnärliga inspiration inkluderar relationer mellan konst och olika trossystem, samarbetsprocesser i kulturella praktiken, performance som kollektivt minne och vardagliga intryck samt mekanismer för återinlärning. Hirvanen är intresserad av att expandera möjligheterna inom koreografi. Atalante har bjudit in Maija Hirvanen med dansaren Tuovi Rantanen till en veckan KID-residens.

Petra Küppers (Tyskland/USA) – är återigen inbjuden av Dansbyrån för att i augusti 2014 arbeta med lokala konstnärer i Göteborg.
Daouda Keïta (Bakamo, Mali) har varit elev hos Kettly Noël som driver dansskolan Donko Seko i Mali, samt festivalen Dense, Bamako Danse! som presenterar internationell scenkonst i Bamako. Göteborgs Dans och Teater Festival bjuder in Daouda för en veckas residens i maj 2014. Residenset är startskottet för en produktion som under 2015 ska turnera i Afrika.

För att utforska människan och hennes tysta makt, ursprunget i hennes inre, så olik förhållanden till andra, öppnar jag ett rum för dialog mellan min kropp och jaget, sliten mellan två världar, två livsytor. Konfrontation mellan tradition och vardag, invasionen av stormakterna. En kropp som blir mångfaldig i upptäckten av dess olika personligheter. En kropp som uttrycker sig och söker lyssnare. En kropp som söker och kanske aldrig hittar sig själv.

Petra Küppers (Tyskland/USA) – professor vid University of Michigan och Disability Culture Activist – har sin bakgrund inom praktisk forskning och framförallt inom community art/performance. Genom sitt kompani, The Olimpias, gör hon projekt som utforskar och utmanar konst i relation till bland annat funktionshinder, aktivism och erotik.
Dansbyrån bjuder in Petra en vecka i januari 2014 för att arbeta med sitt projekt Salamander.

In his residency in Malmö Peter Jasko will work on two current projects.
The first part will be in collaboration with dance artist Florencia Demestri. The work is a duet called Spring Quartet. We believe that the choice to treat or not, explicitly, the quartet’s theme (spring) should not be considered a priori in order not to limit the scope of interpretation to figurative or too representative aspects. The aim of this duet is primarily to create a lively interaction between musicians and dancers. The work will focus on the search for original drama arising from scenic acts or different physical qualities, favoring the expression of emotional states rather than in a willingness to stick to a concept requiring the use of the intellect.

The second part is the start of a new collaboration with the Canadian composer Pierre Michaud called The Matrioshka Collective.
At the core of this new collaboration between Peter Jasko and Pierre Michaud lies a 15-year-old friendship and mutual artistic respect. This new collaboration aims at revisiting the past with new eyes in an open creative atmosphere: a sort of artistic gift to each other, in a sense.
But this project also represents the birth of a new collective of creators, which will grow as a garden. A sort of worldwide creative commune of open minded individuals working and inspiring each other from the 4 corners of the world using the internet and ftp servers to redefine the creative process paradigm. Sometimes these people will meet on stage. Malmö would be the first meeting of the collective.
The idea is quite simple: each new member of the collective is allowed, after a given time, to invite another member, with whom he would like to collaborate. This new member will eventually invite a new member after a given time and so on and so forth. The only rule is to contribute by regularly sharing material on the ftp server, which can be used by other members of the group. All artistic mediums and nationalities are allowed. The material shared can be merely inspirational or be the basis of bigger projects. The number of members of the collective will be eventually fixed once a sufficient number of artistic disciplines are met.
No business plan, no precise goals to achieve, no large expectations. Just pure creativity and joy of sharing in the hopes of seeing beautiful things arise.
Peter Jasko, born in 1982, began dancing at age 3. He studied at the Conservatory of Banska-Bistrica(Slovakia), and P.A.R.T.S. He then danced for Roberto Olivan, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, David Zambrano, Giorgio Barberio Corsetti and many others. He is co-founder of the company Les SlovaKs Dance Collective. He teaches worldwide and also choreographed performances and brought his dancer view to multidisciplinary creations in many countries. His body language is extremely expressive and physical, as he draws his influences in hip-hop or traditional dance with a mastery of ground work. Humor and direct contact with the public are essential for this performer.

Mweu born i Nairobi, Kenya work as a artistic director for Kunja dance.He invites; Funmi Adewole as a guest to the residency since he is inspired by her practice.
Funmi is a researcher, dancer, choreographer, writer and a teacher. Mweu have known her for a few years having met her officially in 2009 in London. She is part of ADAD- The Association of Dance of the African Diaspora.
Mweu is currently looking at and engage in areas of education and performances with attention to research and community. He find that Funmi is a leader and experienced in these areas within her practice. This duos focus is to get more insight, engage in experiment, networking, meetings and dialogues during this period 4-24th of november.

Cecilie Ullerup Schmidt (Danmark/Tyskland) inbjuden av Skogen i november 2013 för festivalen KRIEGSTHEATER – modelling wars of tomorrow.
With the title KRIEGSTHEATER, Skogen and the Danish performance artist and curator Cecilie Ullerup Schmidt invite for a reflection of the role of art in relation to warfare. The festival will examine the (mis)use of creative strategies in contemporary warfare and invite for a discussion of the representation of war within performance art: is the representation of war a continuation of warfare with other means? The core focus of KRIEGSTHEATER is the artist’s ethical role: do we nourish, reproduce or undermine the means of violence, when we stage, perform and reflect upon war? The programme will include performances, lectures, screenings and a small exhibition.
The festival will run between 19th – 29th of November 2013

Under hösten har hon gjort en Sverigeturné med sitt solo Waves (2010) genom Dansnät Sverige. Hon började dansa 1998 och tog examen i koreografi på Han-Sun University i Seoul 2003 och Korean National University of Arts 2010(Seoul). Her new solo 50 ACTS is currently on tour.

Rodrigo Sobarzo
I nov-dec 2012 residerar Rodrigo Sobarzo i Malmö. Rodrigo kommer ursprungligen från Chile och har koreograpi på SNDO (School for New Dance Development) in Amsterdam and has a BA in actor technique from Universidad de Chile in Santiago. Hans verk MINING har varit på turné under hösten 2012 med Dansnät Sverige (Malmö, Göteborg, Stockholm och Jönköping). Bredvid sitt eget arbete dansar han med i verk av bl a Ivana Muller, Jefta van Dinther, Martin Nachbar, Jeremy Wade och An Kaler.

Héla Fattoumi och Éric Lamoureux
Héla Fattoumi och Eric Lamoureux (Frankrike/Tunisien) gästade Malmö 8-28 januari 2012 för utveckling av nya verk. De deltog vid Dansstationens plattform 19 januari. Läs mer på CND i Caen där de är konstnärliga ledare.

Steinunn Ketildóttir och Brian Gerke har arbetat tillsammans under artistnamnet Steinunn och Brian sedan 2007 när de debuterade Crazy in Love with Mr. perfekt som är deras första verk i sin trilogi om kärlek, sex och relationer. Det andra verket var Love Always, Debbie och Susan, 2008 och därefter The Butterface, 2009. Deras senaste verk Heilabrot var ett beställningsverk för Island Dance Company. Kettly Noël 2010
Kettly Noël är koreograf och dansare och driver festivalen Danse, Bamako Dance! som presenterar afrikansk och internationell scenkonst i Malis huvudstad Bamako i oktober 2010. Aly Karembe arbetar tätt med Noël som dansare.
Kettlys residens ingick i Göteborgs Dans och Teater Festival och vill initiera dialogen och samarbetet mellan malinesiska och svenska konstnärer (musiker, dansare och koreografer) i formen av ett labb. www.donkoseko.org/

Kaori Iti (JAP/FR)
Koreografen och dansaren Kaori Ito gästade Malmö 24 oktober- 6 november samt period i december 2011 tillsammans med dansaren och koreografiasssistenten Elie Tass och dansaren Artemis Stavridi. De vidareutvecklade soloverket ”SOLOS” (2009). Läs mer www.kaoriito.com.

TalDans (TUR)
9-30 januari 2011. TalDans är grundat av Mustafa Kaplan och Filiz Sizanli i Istanbul. Inom Taldans har de gjort individuella projekt och samarbeten.
Under sin Malmövistelse talade de om dans och arkitektur den 18 januari på Skånes Dansteater, medverkade i Dansstationens plattform 21 januari samt visade duetten Dolap på Palladium 25 januari. taldans.com/

Michael Jahoda (USA/NL)
är lärare, dansare och koreograf från New York. Tidigare har han dansat med Alvin Ailey Repertory Ensemble och med Jennifer Muller. Sedan 1996 är Jahoda baserad i Amsterdam där han skapat The Phillip Project, en multi-media föreställning som fokuserar på frågor som ”frihet” och ”närhet”. Under sin residens i Malmö jan-feb 2010 la han grunden för ett nytt stycke inom detta projekt med 50 tysta mini-solon.

Franziska Aigner/ Busy Rocks (Bryssel/ Wien) bjöd in videokonstnären och ljusdesignern Mathias Windelberg (Bryssel/ Wien) och koreografen/dansaren Sirah Foighel Brutman (Bryssel) och startade i detta residens december 2010 upp arbetet med ett helt nytt verk. www.busyrocks.org

Erna Ómarsdóttir är koreograf och dansare, utbildad på P.A.R.T.S. i Belgien. Hon har arbetat med koreografer som till exempel Jan Fabre och Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. Numera gör hon verk under egen signatur och i samarbete med andra konstnärer som kompositören Johann Johannsson. Under vistelsen i Malmö nov-dec 2009 samarbetade hon med bl a musikern Valdimar Johannsson. www.ernaomarsdottir.com
