Zheng Bo är en ecoqueer konstnär med Bai-etniskt ursprung. Genom teckning, dans och film skapar hen estetiska, erotiska och politiska relationer med växter. Bo bor i en by på södra sidan av Lantau Island, Hongkong. Guidad av daoistisk visdom odlar hen vilda trädgårdar, levande slogans, biophilia och ecosocialistiska sammankomster. Dessa olika levande och sammanflätade projekt utgör en trädgård där hen kollaborerar med både mänskliga och icke-mänskliga tänkare och aktivister. Hens ekologiska konstnärliga praktik bidrar till framväxten av ett planetärt urinvånarskap.

Under sin IASPIS-vistelse kommer hen att fortsätta att utveckla ”Le Sacre du printemps”, ett dansbaserat filmprojekt som hen började arbeta med 2021. Första kapitlet av filmen visades på den 59:e Venedigbiennalen 2022.

Under 2023 arbetar Zheng Bo med uppdraget ”Artist’s Garden” på Jameel Arts Centre i Dubai och tre offentliga botaniska verk utanför Rockbund Art Museum i Shanghai. Bo presenterade en skogsdansfilm med titeln ”Le Sacre du printemps” (2022) på den 59:e Venedigbiennalen. År 2021 iscensatte hen ”Wanwu Council” på Gropius Bau i Berlin och ”Life is hard. Why do we make it so easy?” på Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden i Hongkong. Hen har deltagit i Sydneybiennalen (2022), Liverpoolbiennalen (2021), Yokohamatriennalen (2020), Manifesta (2018), Taipeibiennalen (2018) och Shanghaibiennalen (2016). Zheng Bo studerade med Douglas Crimp och tog sin doktorsexamen vid Graduate Program in Visual & Cultural Studies vid University of Rochester.

Zheng Bo is an ecoqueer artist of ethnic Bai heritage. Through drawing, dance, and film, they create aesthetic, erotic, and political relationships with plants. Bo resides in a village on the south side of Lantau Island, Hong Kong. Guided by Daoist wisdom, they cultivate wild gardens, living slogans, biophilia, and ecosocialist gatherings. These diverse and intertwined projects constitute a garden where they collaborate with both human and non-human thinkers and activists. Their ecological artistic practice contributes to the emergence of planetary indigeneity.

During their IASPIS residency, they will continue to develop ”Le Sacre du printemps,” a dance-based film project they started working on in 2021. The first chapter of the film was shown at the 59th Venice Biennale in 2022.

In 2023, Zheng Bo is working on the commission ”Artist’s Garden” at Jameel Arts Centre in Dubai and three public botanical works outside the Rockbund Art Museum in Shanghai. In 2022, they presented a forest dance film titled ”Le Sacre du printemps” at the 59th Venice Biennale.[1]  In 2021, they staged ”Wanwu Council” at Gropius Bau in Berlin and ”Life is hard. Why do we make it so easy?” at Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden in Hong Kong. Zheng Bo studied with Douglas Crimp and received their doctoral degree from the Graduate Program in Visual & Cultural Studies at the University of Rochester.
