Public Movement

Residensstipendiater i Stockholm 18 maj – 8 juni 2019

Public Movement är en performativ forskningsgrupp som undersöker och iscensätter politiska aktioner i det offentliga rummet.

Gruppen studerar och skapar publika koreografier, former av social ordning och öppna och slutna ritualer. 2018 presenterade Public Movement sin första separatutställning i Italien, Temporary Orders, på galleriet Vistamarestudio i Milano. 2017 framförde gruppen verket Rescue i Århus, Europas kulturhuvudstad. 2016 presenterade Public Movement Debriefing Session II och Choreographies of Power på Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York.

Året innan visades deras separatutställning National Collection på Tel Aviv Museum of Art, och samma år gav Sternberg Press ut boken Solution 263: Double Agent, med texter av Alhena Katsof och Dana Yahalomi. Public Movement vann Rosenblumpriset för Performing Arts (2017) och nominerades 2014 till konstpriset Future Generation Art Prize på Pinchuk Art Center, Kiev. Gruppen har deltagit i Asian Art Biennial, Taipei; Steirischer Herbst-festivalen, Graz; Berlinbiennalen; New Museum-triennalen, New York; Performa, New York; Göteborgsbiennalen, VanAbbemuseum, Eindhoven; Zacheta National Gallery, Warszawa; Baltic Circle-festivalen, Helsingfors. Public Movement grundades i december 2006 av Dana Yahalomi och Omer Krieger. 2011 tog Yahalomi ensam över direktörskapet för gruppen.

Public Movement is a performative research body which investigates and stages political actions in public spaces.

It studies and creates public choreographies, forms of social order and overt and covert rituals. In 2018, Public Movement presented its first solo exhibition in Italy, Temporary Orders, at Vistamarestudio gallery, Milan. In 2017, the group performed Rescue in Aarhus, European Capital of Culture. In 2016, Public Movement presented Debriefing Session II and Choreographies of Power at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York.

A year before, their solo exhibition, National Collection, was held at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, and in the same year the book Solution 263: Double Agent, written by Alhena Katsof and Dana Yahalomi, was published by Sternberg Press. Public Movement won the Rosenblum Prize for the Performing Arts (2017) and in 2014 was shortlisted for the Future Generation Art Prize at the Pinchuk Art Center, Kiev. Public Movement was founded in December 2006 by Dana Yahalomi and Omer Krieger. In 2001, Yahalomi became the sole director of the group.
