Mikaela Steby Stenfalk

Mikaela Steby Stenfalk is an artist, with a background in design and architecture, based in Stockholm, Sweden. In sculptural works, images, texts and spaces, she navigates concepts such as cultural heritage. (digital) representation and the public sphere. The collective, fragmented memory of institutions and unofficial and ephemeral archives often form the starting point for her practice, which explores the relationship between image, object and place.
After graduating in architecture from the Royal Institute of Technology, and in visual communication from the Design Academy Eindhoven, Mikaela has been awarded the Arvet architecture prize by Svensk Form and the World Heritage Scholarship by UNESCO/Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland. She has also worked as a curator at ArkDes – the Swedish Centre for Architecture and Design. Her works have been exhibited at the Venice Biennale, Galeria e Bregdetit in Albania, Villa Eläintarha in Helsinki, Onomatopee in Eindhoven, Waag Society in Amsterdam, ArkDes and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm.
