Anastasia Ax
Studio grant holder in Stockholm 1 February – 30 April 2022
Anastasia Ax is an artist based in Stockholm. Her art is characterized by a mixture of performance, painting, sculpture and sound. She uses her body as a starting point in brutal or subtle collisions with physical materials. She explores deconstruction and transformation as a way of creating new stories, destroying given ideas and breaking physical and imaginary boundaries.
During her residency, she will work with research and production linked to a couple of ongoing public works. In connection with this, a series of independent drawings, sculptures and performance works will also emerge that are thematically and materially connected to these productions.
Anastasia Ax is a graduate of The Royal Institute of Art, Stockholm and School of Photography and film, Gothenburg. Her work has been shown at several Swedish and international venues including Royal Swedish Theater; Moderna Museet, Stockholm; Moderna Museet, Malmö; Göteborgs Konsthall; BoCa, Lisbon; Neue Galerie, Graz; Reykavik Art Museum and MARTa, Herford.
