Samara Golden

Samara Golden, Born 1973, Michigan, USA. Samara Golden is a sculptor & installation artist.

Her large scale often disorienting installations have been presented at The Whitney Biennial, and MOMA/PS1 in New York; and at The Hammer Museum, and The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Los Angeles. Her most recent project “The Lamplighter’s Wooden Pajamas”(2019) is on view at The Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, Germany, as part of the exhibition “Psyche als Schauplatz des Politischen”.

Golden’s installation titled “The Meat Grinder’s Iron Clothes” was featured in The 2017 Whitney Biennial; and her work “The Flat Side of the Knife” was presented at MoMA/PS1, New York (2014); and then traveled to the Yuz Museum in Shanghai (2017). Golden participated in the 2014 Hammer Biennial, and the“Room To Live” an exhibition at MOCA Los Angeles (2014). A monograph on Golden was published by MoMA PS1 in 2015, her work is part of the permanent collection of The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA); The Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles (MOCA); The Zabludowicz Collection, London; and Yuz Museum, Shanghai. Golden holds an MFA from Columbia University in New York and is currently based in Los Angeles, CA.
