Linnea Dalstrand

Artist in Residence, Stockholm, 5 May–28 October 2025

Linnea Dalstrand lives and works in Fengersfors, in northern Dalsland. Her practice moves between textile sculpture and spatial installation, most often constructed and draped on site. Drawing on the history of the curtain as a point of departure, she finds inspiration in monumental architectural voids, lavishly decorated surfaces, and expansive lengths of fabric. She is also fascinated by the historical abundance of textiles in both private interiors and public spaces—from the functional hanging textile to the curtain as a symbol of ornament and luxury. Linnea works closely with textile yardage, which she processes through dyeing and sewing.

During her residency at IASPIS, Linnea will continue to focus on the self-production of yardage. This approach not only gives her greater control over the conditions of production and material origin, but also over the final material’s expression and uniqueness—before it is used in draped forms and sculptural installations.

Linnea Dalstrand holds a BA from HDK-Valand Campus Steneby, where she studied in the Textile – Body – Space program. She has also completed preparatory studies at both Steneby School and Gerlesborg School of Fine Art.

Her work has been exhibited at institutions including: Röhsska Museum (Gothenburg, 2024), Konstepidemin (Gothenburg, 2025), Galleri Sintra (Gothenburg, 2025), Galleri KC (Gothenburg, 2024), Not Quite (Fengersfors, 2022), Konsthantverkscentrum (Gothenburg, 2022; Stockholm, 2021), the sculpture park at Dalsland Art Museum (Håverud, 2024 and 2023), and Stockholm Craft Week (Stockholm, 2020, 2021, and 2022).
