Studio grant holder in Malmö 21 March-16 April and 8 August-28 September 2022

Joe Kessler. Born 1987 in London. Lives and works in London.

I  will use my time on this residency to make a comic book. I hope to print some copies of it while there. My intention is for it to be large format and narrative, printed using several colours on the A2 Risograph printer.

I am a cartoonist and the Art Director of Breakdown Press. I have published several books including 2018’s Windowpane. This book was translated into Swedish as Fonsteruta by Lystring in 2020. My most recent book, Le Gull Yettin, will be published by Lystring as Masvarrelsen in March. I teach on the undergraduate illustration course at Camberwell College of Arts.
