giorgia chiarion

Artist in Residence, Stockholm, 1 September–15 November 2026

giorgia chiarion (b. 1990) is an Italian-British artist and researcher currently based in Rovigo, Italy. Her practice explores how individuals inhabit physical and digital spaces through a framework of performance, cooperative research and participatory space-building. giorgia’s research trajectories often spiral toward intimate spheres (the family, the home, and the body) utilising weaving, embroidery and repair as methodologies of material inquiry. By treating slow, tactile labour as both a data-gathering tool and a means of artistic production, her work investigates alternative modes of spatial documentation. She is theco-founder of the collectives tracing spaces, reflections of-, and queering families.

During her upcoming residency, giorgia intends to develop her “weave walk” methodology as an alternative approach to spatial mapping. This research trajectory involves repeatedly walking specific paths to gather found materials and environmental detritus. By weaving these physical fragments into a continuous textile, she aims to construct tactile timelines and maps of the landscape translating human movement and environmental conditions into a physical record of the space.

giorgia recently graduated with an MA in Research Architecture from Goldsmiths, University of London. She has presented projects internationally at institutions including the Institute of Contemporary Art (London) and the Design Museum (London). Her recent exhibitions panning the last three years include cárcamo expandido at Museo del Cárcamo de Dolores (Ciudad de México, 2026), Reverberations at the Centre for Research Architecture Goldsmiths, University of London (London, 2025) and La Casa Erosionada at Museo Anahuacalli (Ciudad de México,2023).Website address: giorgiach·arion.com
