Fathia Mohidin & Jin Mustafa
Artists in residence, Stockholm, November 2026–April 2027
Fathia Mohidin and Jin Mustafa’s collaboration emerged from a desire to create a space where their different practices, perspectives, and experiences of sound could come together in an exploratory dialogue. Drawing on mythological and historical ideas about sound, they seek to move beyond conventional notions and dissolve limitations within their ways of thinking, making room for alternative narratives and perspectives.

During their residency at IASPIS, they will deepen their exploration of sound in both its physical and immaterial forms. Through composition, image-making, text, and installation, they investigate a sonic world where history and the future are woven together, making room for both longing and alternative histories.
In Fathia Mohidin’s (b. 1985) work, media such as sound and sculpture are interwoven with research in large-scale installations. She repeatedly reflects on the body in relation to its surrounding structures and is interested in processes involving traces, displacement, and repetition. Mohidin graduated from the Royal Institute of Art and is based in Stockholm.
Jin Mustafa’s (b. 1988) practice oscillates at the intersection of art and music. Questions of time and distance, and the relationship between personal and collective memory, are explored through a polyrhythmic approach using sound, sculpture, and video. Mustafa is based in Stockholm and studied at the Royal Institute of Art and Elektronmusikstudion (EMS).
