The MMCA Residency Changdong in Seoul is an international artist-in-residence programme run by the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA). Established in 2002, it offers residency exchange opportunities through partnerships with art and cultural institutions worldwide. The residency supports artists working with a wide range of materials, methods, and artistic approaches. Its aim is to strengthen artistic practice, foster exchange between local and international practitioners, and support the development of professional networks across borders.
MMCA Changdong provides a productive working environment and facilitates dialogue between artists and other art professionals, including curators and critics. Residents take part in an international programme that brings together artists and researchers from Korea and abroad. Open Studios are held twice a year, during which residents present their work in the residency’s exhibition spaces.
The application is open to professional visual artists based in Sweden. Please note that the residency facilities include workspace only; no workshops are available.
