KIM Sung woo
Kim Sung woo is a curator and writer. He premises the notion of an exhibition as a kind of questionnaire and contemplates the possibility of discovering creative subjectivity of individuals in the process of responses to the image and its chains. He curates exhibitions based on an interest in alternative/temporary community beyond systemised forms of life.
As chief curator, Kim directed the curatorial project/ exhibition and management of Amado Art Space, a non-profit alternative space in Seoul (2015-2019). He was also appointed as a curatorial advisor for the Busan Biennale 2020, SongEun Art Space (2019), and has curated the 12th Gwangju Biennale (2018) in the form of curatorial collective. Since 2022, he is working as an independent curator, and has also launched and manages an independent art space, Primary Practice, focusing on today’s art with contemporary curatorial practices, in Seoul.
