Kah Bee Chow (Malaysia/New Zealand/Sweden) is an artist from Penang, Malaysia and Auckland, New Zealand, living and working in Malmö Sweden, Chow works primarily with installation and sculpture: paying attention to particularities of the space and site, observing architectural proportions and character to delve into layers of historical resonance or to ascribe a kind of logic to the place, setting up imagined parameters from which to stray.
Kah Bee Chow
Her work often proposes architecture as a kind of shelter: a space of sanctuary and protection and at the same time, implicates it as an instrument of control towards the body and psyche. They are also driven by other kinds of flows: material, systems, asymmetric, rhythms entwined – the tension between care and control is a constant. In Berlin, she will be investigating the way ritual practices can structure time and architecture, experimenting with material compositions and studying different approaches to ritual.
