Expertbesök i Stockholm 2 - 9 oktober 2019

Hélène Bremer is a Dutch art historian and curator. She specializes in presenting exhibitions with contemporary art in historic houses and castles throughout Europe. Her practice is focussed on ‘trans-historic’ curating: connecting the present with the past; heritage objects with new artworks. Her background as an art historian specialized in the art and culture of the 18th century is linked with her personal passion for collecting contemporary craft that is inspired by the 18th century, which is visible in most of her curatorial work. Amongst the exhibitions she has curated: SWEET18, contemporary art, fashion and design inspired by the 18th century, Castle d’Ursel, Hingene (Belgium), 2015; ‘Armed with Beauty, Women and Power since the Middle Ages', Amsterdam Castle Muiderslot, Muiden (The Netherlands), 2018; ‘On a Pedestal, celebrating the contemporary portrait bust in the 21st century’, Castletown House and Dublin Castle (Ireland), 2018.
