Expert visit in Göteborg 10 – 15 September 2019

Selene Yap is a Research Curator at the Future Cities Laboratory (FCL) of the Singapore-ETH Centre. Since 2015, she has worked as an independent curator based in Singapore. Independent curatorial projects from 2017-2019 include opening day, a four-part series of artistic interventions sited in the disused common space of Upper Serangoon Shopping Centre, and browsing copy, an artists’ book project which invited eight Singapore-based artists to consider their artistic practice through the medium of a book.
Past curatorial programmes she has participated in include the Curating Lab programme (2014-2015) helmed by NUS Museum, and the Japan Foundation Asia Center Curators’ forum Imagining New Ecologies held in Tokyo (2018). She has also moderated artist talks at NTU Centre for Contemporary Art and Jendela Gallery at the Esplanade. Prior to joining FCL, she was the Programme Manager for Visual Arts at The Substation, Singapore’s first independent contemporary arts centre, where she provided research and curatorial support for the exhibitions Each Blade of Grass (2016), Is That All There Is?
