Meeting Point 2018 – Göteborg. Contemporary Art in Västra Götaland County

We are now accepting applications from artists seeking to meet with an international group of freelance and institution-based curators during two days of portfolio viewings. Meeting Point 2018 will take place on November 26-27, around 60 artists will have the opportunity of presenting their work during brief meetings with the invited guest curators. The aim of Meeting Point is to establish contacts between artists and curators for potential future collaborations and exhibitions.

The project is initiated by Göteborgs Konsthall and organized in collaboration with Iaspis, Bildmuseet in Umeå, Röda Sten Konsthall, Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art and Kultur i Väst with the support of Region Västra Götaland. Part of the project involves a second portfolio viewing in Umeå for artists based in northern Sweden.

Who can apply

All artists living in Västra Götaland County can apply to take part in Meeting Point. A jury will select around 60 of the applicants, who will have the chance to show their works to the invited curators and art organizers. Applications from artists currently enrolled in university art programs or preparatory art schools will not be accepted. The invited group of curators consists of representatives of institutions both national and international, as well as freelance curators. Before Meeting Point takes place, the curators review the selected artists’ portfolios and shortlist a number of artists whom they would most like to talk with. In this way we hope that Meeting Point will be as fruitful as possible for both artists and curators.

Each meeting between artists and curators will be 20 minutes long, and artists will meet with 4 curators each. The portfolio viewings will take place daytime on November 26-27 at Röda Sten Konsthall. On November 26 an evening program will be presented at Göteborgs Konsthall.
