Wan-Ying Lin

Studio Grantholder in Stockholm 1 October 2018 - 31 March 2019

Wan Ying Lin (SWE), born in Taichung, Taiwan (1984), lives and works in Gothenburg.

Wan Ying Lin is a jewellery artist focusing on sensation and perception. Concentrating on the possibilities and relationship between a space and an individual from a jeweller’s perspective, her research includes space creating and material tests. Using the physical properties of materials (magnetism, weight, density, etc.), she creates hollow forms and spaces. Spaces of interpersonal relationships, spaces between individuals and objects, spaces about objects and the spaces within it. By unfolding or closing spaces, adding or taking away substance within space, Lin uses the spaces to make illusions, which enlarges, changes, or hides information from people, in order to challenge the perceiving of five senses, and discover how perception changes by the changing within spaces.
Lin is a graduate of the National Taiwan University of Arts, and the Academy of Design and Crafts (HDK), University of Gothenburg, and has exhibited her works in Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and Taiwan.
