Ann Gollifer
is a painter, printmaker, photographer and writer who has lived and worked in Gaborone since 1985. She is a Permanent Resident of Botswana. Ann was born in Guyana (British Guiana) in 1960. Ann’s practice is based on concepts that investigate identity and history both personal and collective. Her work hopes to bring to light the questions we ask ourselves about belonging and is inspired by the people and landscapes she lives with.
Ann was part of the collective that ran the Thapong International Artists Workshops from 1991 to 2005 and she was a member of the executive committee that built the Thapong Visual Art Centre. Ann currently works from her studio in Gaborone. She exhibits internationally and her work is represented in public collections in London, New York, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Lusaka.
