Time: Wednesday May 9, 6 pm
Place: Lucie Fontaine’s studio, Iaspis, The Swedish Arts Grants Committee, Maria skolgata 83, Stockholm

Josefine Wikström’s talk Production, Creation and Outsourcing – Artistic Labour under Advanced Capitalism is part of Body of Work, a project developed by Lucie Fontaine in collaboration with Iaspis.

Through a reading of Marx and post-Marxists theories, Josefine Wikström will discuss what function artistic labour can have under high forms of capitalist production. She will specifically focus on recent artistic practices, which use outsourcing and delegation in their work and investigate how these new forms of production expand artistic labour into new use-values.

Josefine Wikström is a PhD candidate at the Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy (Kingston University). The title of her thesis is Performance After Post-Fordism: Towards a Materialist Ontology in Performance, which investigates performance art as a category of labour in connection to Karl Marx’s Theses on Feuerbach.

In parallel to Wikström’s talk, Lucie Fontaine’s exhibition space in Stockholm, a satellite of the space she established in Milan in 2008, will open a double solo exhibition by Alice Mandelli & Alice Tomaselli.

Lucie Fontaine is in residence at Iaspis during spring 2012.
