“Humans are strange creatures. They devote themselves to such divergent things as space walks, picnics, atomic bombs, collecting butterflies, music, high masses and circus art. While other creatures on the planet do not want to do much more than eat, sleep and mate. One minute Kermit the frog is on the television; the next there is a report on quantum physics. How is everything connected? This conglomeration of human expressions provides me with inspiration, and employing the power of imagination I remix and create images giving things a new meaning. Quite often detailed visual ideas suddenly pop up in my mind. Usually they are absurd and comical. What would this look like? Then work begins to recreate them as accurately as possible. By giving my art the appearance of things from another era, old photographs, paintings and musical objects, substance and seriousness is added.”
