The lecture will focus on two transversal exhibitions - DECORUM and MEDUSA - that both integrated art, craft, and design, beyond established hierarchies ; Anne Dressen will specifically adress how they intend to trigger traditional exhibition making and thinking.

Anne Dressen is curator at ARC, the contemporary department of the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (MAMVP). Her curatorial projects and writings investigate unofficial or peripheral artistic practices in regards to "fine arts" - particularly around sound and video, copy and reproduction, crafts and the decorative arts, the pornographic and the proto-queer - , rejecting binary and linear views. Her exhibitions include “Sturtevant. The Razzle Dazzle of Thinking” (2010); “Second Hand” (2010); “La Demeure joyeuse” (2012) and “Decorum. Carpets and tapestries by artists” (2013), that toured at the Power Station of art in Shanghai (2014), as well as “The Passion according to Carol Rama”, coorganized with MACBA in Barcelona (2015).

Dressen’s latest project at MAMVP focuses on jewellery in its broader sense : the exhibition “MEDUSA - Jewellery and Taboos” is on view until the 5th of November 2017.

After the lecture there will be a conversation between Anne Dressen and Marika Bogren, curator at Nationalmuseum.
