Public Movement is a performative research group that investigates and stages political actions in public spaces. In the last five years, Public Movement has organized events, rituals, and political situations through consultation and collaboration with scholars, experts, and ongoing group debates and discussions. Often in collaboration with prominent art institutions, such as the New Museum in New York and the Van Abbe Museum in Eindhoven, Public Movement has explored the regulations, forces, agents and policies, as well as the formations of identity and systems of ritual, which govern the dynamics of public life and public space.

In the last six months, Public Movement has begun work on their new pan-European campaign "Rebranding European Muslims", which they will continue to develop during their residency at Iaspis. As part of their work towards the campaign, Public Movement opens up their strategic research for a day-long Think Tank at Iaspis, in which they will discuss and envision ways that artists actively contribute to the branding of communities.

During the Think Tank the new campaign “Rebranding European Muslims", will be presented as a case study, activating fields of knowledge. In attendance, along with Public Movement, there will be branding strategists, representatives of the Muslim Swedish community, political scientists and artists. On the agenda for discussion are questions regarding the tandem relationship between nation branding and identity that will provoke the conflictual issues at hand. As such the Think Tank becomes a platform to develop future working strategies for the campaign, which will be launched in a festive Gala event during the Steirischer Herbst festival on September 28 in Graz.

Public Movement was founded in December 2006 in Tel Aviv by co-leaders Omer Krieger and Dana Yahalomi until August 2011 when Yahalomi assumed sole leadership. To find out more about the campaign, please visit:
